Ginger Soy Spare Ribs

Can You Spare a Rib?

I’m a big fan of marinating red meat in citrus, as evidenced by my Ginger Lime Flank Steak and my Citrus Carne Asada. So last weekend, for our bbq I decided I’d try a similar approach to spare ribs. I love the flavor citrus and ginger gave to the meat and the guests in attendance (especially the men) loved it even more!

Marinate In It

Here’s What You’ll Need

Juice from 3 Large Oranges

1 Tbls of Chopped Ginger

1 Tbls of Diced Garlic

3 Green Onions Diced

1/4 Cup of Soy Sauce

2 Small Packs of Bone-In Spar Ribs (5 In a Pack)

Spicy Ginger Grilling Glaze – I bought mine in the bbq sauce section of the grocery store

Directions – Whisk together orange juice, ginger, garlic, green onions and soy sauce and place inside a large ziploc bag (my favorite tool for marinating). Add meat to the bag and place bag into the fridge to marinate (turning occasionally) for at least 3 hours.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Remove meat from marinade (can throw the marinade away) and put into a low casserole dish. Cook at 350 for an hour. This will allow the inside to cook. Now, heat your grill to medium high and use oil or Pam for grilling to grease the racks.

Boys and Grills

Place meat on racks (with the thickest area face down) and cook over medium heat for 8 -10 minutes flipping once. You’re using the grill to get a nice char on your meat since the inside is already cooked. Once you flip your meat use a brush to glaze the cooked side of your meat.

Manning the Grill

The glaze is key in my opinion so once there was a nice char on the ribs I repeatedly added layers of glaze… yum!

Grill Party

For guests who don’t eat red meat, I also made bbq chicken. You can find that recipe HERE if you’re interested.

When the ribs were perfectly charred and glazed outside and perfectly cooked inside I sprinkled them with diced green onion and served them up family style. I hope you enjoy them as much as we did.
