Star Cookie Cutters
Tomorrow my toddlers head back to school… well, they head back to pre-school but it’s still quite monumental in our world. My boys don’t always stay for lunch at school. They both still take a nap and lunchtime at school usually interferes. Every Friday though, it’s our special treat that they get to stay a bit longer and have lunch at school with their friends. Because of this, I try to make the lunches a bit more special. I don’t always get there… believe me, somedays they’re lucky I remember the lunch at all, but when I have the time I try and dream up a cool treat. One of their favorites is a shape lunch! Meaning, I use a cookie cutter to make everything in their lunch a special shape, the easiest (because i have it in many sizes) is the star!
Star Shapes
First I cut out the star shapes from the bread… I know many of you make the sandwich first and then use the cutter but I do the bread alone because then I can use the leftover crust to make “Stars in a Hole” for breakfast!
A Star Themed Day!!
For the other lunch items, any fruit or vegetable that’s easy to cut will work!
Cucumber Stars!!
Cheese Stars!!
Cookie Cutter food is such an easy thing for kiddos to help with… save yourself the headache and prep all of this the night before so you aren’t stressed cutting out cheese stars in the morning before school!

Super Star!!
I may not always make a cool lunch like this one, but one thing I’ve ALWAYS done is include a note on the napkin. My mom did this for me and it always made me feel so special. Sometimes I draw a funny picture, sometimes it’s a Bible verse, or a just a note to tell them I love them. Whatever it is, they always know that mommy is thinking of them while we’re apart!

I will never forget how great it feels to get a special note from Mom in your lunch. Awesome!
Thank you Melody! All of my girls and grandchildren are FREAKIN’ awesome Stars to me!
I put a note in Ryan’s lunch when he was in the 1st Grade that said, ‘Thank you for putting your dirty clothes in the hamper!’ I got an actual call from his teacher saying she read all of his notes and how cute they were but this particular one was the best. Having a first grade boy that DIDN’T throw his clothes under his bed was a miracle!
