Greek Seven Layer Dip

All Seven Layers

I’m a HUGE fan of seven layer dip. In fact, I rarely make it because I will continuously sneak back to the buffet table over and over until I’ve eaten it all. Recently I wondered to myself if I could substitute hummus for beans and the idea for a greek style seven layer was born. This dish looks so vibrant and it’s just as delicious as it’s latin flavored cousin!

Here’s What You’ll Need

1 Container of Plain Hummus

1 Small Container of Plain Green Yogurt

1/2 A Red Onion – Diced

5 Sweet Peppers – Diced

Greek Style Kalamata Olives – Diced

Crumbled Feta Cheese

Pine Nuts

Oregano

Cucumber, Pita Chips, Green Bell Peppers – for scooping

Hummus

First use a spatula to spread the bottom layer of your hummus out. I used a large plate but you could do your dip in a bowl, a casserole dish, whatever.

Yogurt

Since greek yogurt is so thick I put mine in a baggie and snipped off a corner to use it like a pastry bag. Once the yogurt was down it was easier to spread it out without it mixing in with the hummus. If you’ve never had greek yogurt by the way, it’s a great substitute for sour cream and has crazy high protein!

Sliced and Diced

Next I diced my peppers and my onions and put them in as the next layers.

Stacking Up

Diced Olives

Next dice your olives

Add the Olives

Now you can sprinkle your feta, you pine nuts and a healthy dose of oregano over the top of it all.

Almost Ready

Lastly you can surround you dip with some tasty dippers like sliced cucumber, pita chips, bell pepper or more of your sweet peppers.

Ready to Party

Dip Dip Hooray!

Looks yummy! I think I’d toast the pine nuts though. It’s so simple .. a couple minutes in a non stick pan on low imparts so much flavor to the nut and the dish it is in. Thanks for the great idea!

So funny Michelle I almost did that and then gave up at the last minute based on sheer laziness. It’s a good idea though!!
